I, Diane Santos, was the resident and point of contact with the landlord at 39 Carleton Ave, Islip
Terrace, NY 11752 prior to and during the night of the fire on November 28, 2020. During my
tenancy in the apartment I was living with my family and friends who contributed to paying the
rent. All the rooms in my apartment were full and I wanted more space for my family. Since I
had my own garage and basement that I wasn't using I decided to use them so I could move
them in there. I also used the basement and gave my family their own apartment down there.
The landlord never checked anything because I always paid my rent on time and I would pay in
front of the house on the steps.
Raffael Avgi, had no knowledge of the modifications I made to the house. He never inspected
because I always paid my rent on time and I paid in front of the home on the steps, never
