I am a longtime agent at Houlihan Lawrence in Scarsdale. I wanted to

share that the "in bonus provides a strong incentive to
sell to a Houlihan colleague over an agent from a competing
brokerage. I have never been comfortable with the arrangement and
am incensed when Houlihan boasts their #1in market share statistics
everywhere. Of we are #
1- we are pressured to sell
course,
to our own agents. We are bombarded with emails encouraging in
house deals from other agents and management. At meetings,
managers talk about market share incessantly. In house deals pervade
the corporate culture. It wouldn't be an issue if we didn't
earn the bonus and/or disclosed the bonus to both parties but no one
does. Senior management at HL is totally absent and provides
no managerial support. They sit at HQ and don't engage.
