Biography

The Hon. William S. Woolley is a judge for the 18th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was elected to the bench in 2000 and re-elected in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020.

The 18th Judicial District encompasses Sedgwick County. Over the course of his judicial career, Woolley was selected to preside over oral arguments for the Kansas Supreme Court.

Prior to his appointment, Woolley was an Assistant United States Trustee with the Office of the United States Trustee for the District of Kansas. Before that, he spent twelve years as an attorney in private practice.

Woolley earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Kansas School of Law.

He is registered as a Republican.
