The Hon. William P. Alderton (Ret.) served as a judge for the Chaffee County Court in Colorado. Alderton was appointed to the bench by former Governor Roy Romer in 1990. He retired at the conclusion of his term in 2020.
Prior to his appointment, Alderton worked as an attorney in his own private practice. He supplemented his practice with service as a deputy district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office (Cortez) and the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (Salida).
Alderton earned a bachelor’s degree at Whitman College in 1971. He then completed a J.D. at Creighton University School of Law in 1974.
He and his wife, Pat, reside on a ranch just outside of Salida, where they attend to horses, chickens, dogs, and cats.
