The Hon. William J. Martin (Ret.) is a senior judge for the Indiana County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. Martin was elected to the bench on November 5, 1991, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Robert Earley. He retired on January 4, 2021.
Martin earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College in 1976. He then completed a J.D. at Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 1978.
Shortly after graduating from law school, Martin joined the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as an assistant district attorney. Then, in 1984, Martin became a partner at Miller, Miller & Martin. During this time, he also served as the District Attorney for Indiana County.
His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Indiana County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association.
