Judge William F. Stone: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. William F. Stone is a judge for the 1st Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench in 2004 and re-elected in 2010, 2016, and 2022.

The 1st Judicial Circuit encompasses Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties. Stone has held assignments in Okaloosa County.

Stone earned a B.A. from Huntingdon College in 1978. He then completed a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law (1982) and an LL.M. in real estate and land development at the University of Miami School of Law (1984).

His memberships have included the Commission on Trial Court Performance and Accountability. He has also been involved with the National Board of Accredited Diplomats Congress of Certified Mediators, the Florida Academy of Certified Mediators, the Okaloosa-Walton County Bar Association, Okaloosa County Legal Aid, and the American Arbitration Association.
