The Hon. W. M. Sanders is a chancellor for the 7th Chancery Court District of Mississippi. She was elected to the bench in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, 2018, and 2022.
The 7th Chancery District encompasses Bolivar, Coahoma, LeFlore, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica Counties.
Prior to her election, Sanders was a judge for the Leflore County Court and the Leflore County Youth Court. Before that, she managed her own private practice as a sole practitioner in Greenwood, supplementing her practice with service as a judge for the Greenwood Municipal Court.
Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Sanders began her legal career with North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. During her tenure there, she rose through the ranks, eventually sitting as the managing attorney for the office in Clarksdale.
She was a resident of Greenwood, Mississippi, at the time of her election. A mother of two children, she attends New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
