The Hon. W. Edward Reeves is a judge for the 34th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. He was elected to the bench on November 6, 2018.
The 34th Judicial Circuit includes New Madrid County and Pemiscot County.
Reeves earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1983. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1986. As a law student, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Missouri Law Review.
He is admitted to practice in Missouri (1986), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (1987), the United States Supreme Court (1990), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Missouri (1993).
After graduating from law school, Reeves began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. John R. Gibson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He served in that capacity until 1987, at which time he entered into private practice. He started as an associate at Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City, eventually leaving to become a partner at Ward & Reeves in Caruthersville in 1992.
His memberships have included the American Bar Foundation, the Missouri Bar Association, the 34th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church. He also sat on the Missouri State Board of Law Examiners, and the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on Access to Family Courts.
He is a recipient of the President’s Award from the Missouri Bar Association (2005) and the Appellate Advocacy Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation (1996).
Reeves is registered as a Democrat.
