The Hon. Victoria I. Shackelford is a judge for the 23rd District Court of Michigan. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on September 28, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Geno Salomone.
Prior to her appointment, Shackelford served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. During her tenure there, she held assignments in the Community Prosecution Unit, the Homicide Unit, and the Arson Unit. Before that, she handled criminal law and public defender matters as an attorney at Goldin & Associates and Freedman, Krochmal and Goldin.
Shackelford earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Eastern Michigan University in 2002. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Toledo College of Law in 2005. She is admitted to practice in Michigan (2005) and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (2006).
Her memberships have included the 33rd District Court’s Sobriety Court Program. She has also served as the Director of Legal Education for FAIR Michigan and the Treasurer of Downriver Families Against Narcotics.
A resident of Taylor, Michigan, Shackelford and her wife, Amy, have three sons.
