The Hon. Veronica E. Henry is a judge for the Orleans Parish Civil District Court of Louisiana. She was elected to the seat in 2023.
Henry began her judicial career as a judge for the First City Court of Orleans Parish in 2010. During that time, she is credited with helping to establish the state’s first-ever Eviction Diversion Program in 2021, and the following year, she was invited by the White House to participate in a virtual summit on eviction reform.
She received a bachelor’s degree in drama and communications from the University of New Orleans. Henry then worked as an on-air producer at WWL-AM in New Orleans and was a public affairs programmer, producer, and host at WWL-TV and WDSU-TV. She went on to complete a J.D. at Loyola University, New Orleans College of Law in 1984.
Henry began her legal career as an associate at Jones, Nabonne & Wilkerson in 1985. There, she gained experience in personal injury, insurance, medical malpractice, and energy regulatory litigation. In 1987, Henry was named a partner at Wilkerson & Henry, LLC, where she remained until her election to the bench.
Her memberships include the Louisiana State Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana Judicial Council of the National Bar Association, the American Judges Association, the Fourth Circuit Judges Association, the Fourth and Fifth Circuit Judges Association, the Louisiana City Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the A.P. Tureaud Inn of Court, the New Orleans Bar Inn of Court, the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the Association of Women Attorneys, and the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board.
Henry was also a member of the Executive Committees of the Louisiana City Court Judges Association and the New Orleans Bar Inn of Court.
She is registered as a Democrat.
