The Hon. Trudy M. White (Ret.) is a former judge for the 19th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. She joined the seat in 2009. White retired on April 1, 2023.
The 19th Judicial District includes East Baton Rouge Parish. She began her judicial career as a judge for the City Court of Baton Rouge, following her election in 1999.
She received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Howard University in 1978. White then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in 1981.
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career in private practice, where she would remain until her election to the local city court bench. In addition to her practice, White served as deputy general counsel and general counsel to the Louisiana Department of Revenue and executive director of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society’s Pro Bono Program.
Her memberships included the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Judicial Council, the Louisiana District Judges Association, the National Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the Leadership Greater Baton Rouge, and the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System.
White was a scriptwriter and researcher of the historical document, “Baton Rouge’s Troubled Waters: The Brooks Park Story,” for the Louisiana Public Broadcasting Station. She has also been involved with the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, and she received the Racial Justice and Speak Truth to Power awards from the YWCA in 2008 and the Crystal Gavel Award in 2009.
White is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she attended McKinley High School.
She is registered as a Democrat.
