The Hon. Troy B. Braswell is a judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Arkansas. He was elected to the bench on May 20, 2014.
The 20th Judicial Circuit includes Faulkner County, Searcy County, and Van Buren County. Braswell has gained recognition for the youth-rehabilitation programs he has instituted as the presiding judge of the Juvenile Court. These programs have included a sewing class, a moral-dilemmas class, a boxing club, and a book club.
Prior to his election, Braswell was the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 20th Judicial District. He became a deputy prosecuting attorney in 2007, holding assignments in the domestic violence and sexual assault unit.
Braswell earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He then completed a master’s degree at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock as well as a J.D. at the University of Arkansas, William H. Bowen School of Law (2005).
His memberships have included the Juvenile Judges Association, the Arkansas Supreme Court Commission on Youth and Families, and the Arkansas Specialty Court Committee. He also chaired the Arkansas Youth Justice Reform Board.
He is a recipient of the Outstanding Community Leader Award from the Conway Morning Rotary Club. He was also named Arkansas Drug Court Judge of the Year in 2016.
Raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Braswell is the son of Troy and Kitty. Troy owned skating rinks, and Kitty was a special-education teacher.
