Judge Tricia M. Ferrell: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Tricia M. Ferrell is a judge on the Nassau County District Court in the 10th Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to the bench by Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi in 2008.

Over the course of her judicial career, Ferrell has presided over cases in the Driving While Intoxicated Court and the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Court. She has also held assignments as the supervising judge of the Nassau County District Court.

Ferrell earned a B.A. in urban legal studies from the City College of New York in 1995. She then completed a J.D. at Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, in 1998. She was licensed to practice in New York (1999).

After graduating from law school, Ferrell began her legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. She served in that capacity until 2005, at which time she became a deputy village attorney for the Village of Hempstead. Then, in 2006, she was hired as the director of compliance for the Nassau County Office of Compliance.

Her memberships have included the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court, the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Nassau County District Court Judges Association.

She is registered as a Democrat.
