The Hon. Tricia M. Ferrell is a judge for the Nassau County District Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. She was first appointed to the District Court by Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi in 2008 and was subsequently elected to the seat in 2009 and re-elected in 2015.
She is registered as a Democrat.
Judge Ferrell graduated with her B.A. in urban legal studies from the City College of New York in 1995. She went on to earn her J.D. from Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1998.
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. Then, in 2005, Ferrell became a deputy village attorney for the Village of Hempstead in New York. She remained in that capacity until 2008, when she then began serving as the director of compliance for Nassau County.
While on the bench, Judge Ferrell has presided over the DWI Court and the Domestic Violence Court.
Her memberships have included the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, the Theodore Roosevelt Inn of Court, the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State District Court Judges Association, and the Nassau County District Court Judges Association.
