Biography

The Hon. Travis P. O'Gorman is a judge for the 12th Judicial District Court of Nebraska. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dave Heineman on June 23, 2011, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Brian Silverman.


The 12th Judicial District encompasses Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Grant, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan, and Sioux Counties. Over the course of his judicial career, O’Gorman was invited to sit with the Nebraska Supreme Court on February 8, 2024. He heard arguments in the case of Nieveen v. Tax 106 (S-21-0364).


O’Gorman earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Chadron State College in 1999. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2002. As a law student, O’Gorman was a member of the Nebraska Law Review.


After graduating from law school, O’Gorman entered into private practice in Lincoln. He started as an associate at Cline, Williams, Wright, Johnson & Oldfather, eventually rising through the ranks to become a partner of the firm. O’Gorman supplemented his practice by teaching legal writing at the University of Nebraska College of Law.


His memberships have included the Nebraska State Bar Association.
