Hon. Travis M. Reeds is a judge for the Fifty-Second District Court (Division One) of Michigan in Oakland County. He was elected to the bench in 2014.
Prior to his election, Reeds practiced alongside his father, Michael, at Reeds & Reeds in Walled Lake. At the firm, his cases included matters involving real estate and probate estates, family law, and criminal law.
He received a B.A. from Central Michigan University in 1994. Reeds went on to complete a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School in 1997.
He has served as a lecturer for the Oakland County Bar Association and has lectured and written extensively for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
In addition, Reeds has contributed to the ICLE as a Champion of Justice, including serving as the co-editor and co-author of Michigan Criminal Procedure and Michigan Drunk Driving Law Practice. He was also a member of the advisory board and a contributor to the Michigan Model Criminal Jury Instructions (Second Edition) and contributed to revisions to the Michigan Judicial Institute’s Contempt of Court Benchbook.
Reeds was a member of the Oakland County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and the ICLE Criminal Law Advisory Board and served on the Court Rules and Criminal Forms Committees of the Michigan District Judges Association.
He was named a Michigan Super Lawyer (2013 and 2014) and among one of the Top 100 National Trial Lawyers.
