Hon. Timothy W. Chell is a judge for the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem County Superior Court (Vicinage 15) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie in 2011 and reappointed for tenure in 2018.
Chell has held assignments in the Cumberland County Family Division (2011) as well as the Gloucester County Family (2011 to 2017) and Civil (2017 to present) Divisions. He has served as the presiding judge of the Civil Division since 2018.
Prior to his appointment, Chell was the mayor of Mantua Township, a position he held for eleven years. He also served as a councilman for the Township since 1997.
His public service also included acting as a municipal solicitor for East Greenwich, Swedesboro, and Washington Township and as a prosecutor in Glassboro.
Chell received a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University in 1987. He went on to complete a J.D. at Temple University, James E. Beasley School of Law in 1992.
Chell is registered as a Democrat.
