Hon. Timothy M. Van Akkeren (Ret.) was a judge for the Sheboygan County Circuit Court in the Fourth Judicial District of Wisconsin. He was elected to the bench in 1989. Van Akkeren retired on January 4, 2016.
Prior to beginning his judicial tenure, he was a partner at Hayes, Neumann, Humke, Moir & Van Akkeren, where he began as an associate attorney.
Van Akkeren received a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1974. He then spent three years working for the United States Army Security Agency (1975 to 1978) before completing a J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1981.
Van Akkeren was admitted to practice in Wisconsin (1981), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin (1981), and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (1981).
He was appointed by former Governor Scott Walker to serve on the Ethics Commission in 2017 and again by Governor Tony Evers in 2019.
Following his retirement, Van Akkeren served as a reserve judge for the Wisconsin Court System.
