Hon. Tiffany H. Anderson is an associate judge for the Prince George’s County Circuit Court in the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Maryland. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Larry Hogan in 2016.
Anderson began her judicial career as an associate judge for the Prince George’s County District Court in the Fifth District in 2008. During her tenure on that bench, she was named Administrative Judge of the county’s District Court in 2014 by the Hon. John P. Morrissey, Chief Judge of the Maryland District Court. She remained in that capacity until joining the Circuit Court.
Prior to joining the bench, Anderson was a partner at Funk & Bolton, P.A., a position she held since 2005. She first joined the firm as of counsel in 2004. Before that, Anderson worked as a legislative liaison and county executive in Prince George’s County (2003 to 2004) and spent four years as an assistant state’s attorney with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office (1998 to 2002).
She received a B.A. in political science from the University of California, San Diego in 1992. Anderson went on to complete a J.D. at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1997. She was admitted to practice in Maryland (1997), the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (1998), and the United States Supreme Court (2003).
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as an associate in the Law Offices of Gabriel J. Christian & Associates (1997 to 1998).
Her memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Prince George’s County Bar Association, the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland. Anderson also sat on a number of committees with the Maryland Judicial Council and Judicial Conference.
From a civic standpoint, she was involved with the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., So Others Might Eat, Christmas in April, the Largo High School Mock Trial (coach), the Prince George’s County Adopt-a-School Program, the Columbus School of Law Moot Court Program (judge), the Maryland Alternative Dispute Resolution Program (certified mediator), and the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association.
Anderson is also a graduate of Leadership Prince George’s (Class of 2004) and Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2008).
She received the Outstanding Service and Dedication Award from the Homicide Division of the Prince George’s County Police Department (2002), a Certificate of Appreciation from the Prince George’s County Municipal Training Academy (2002), and the Maryland Leadership in Law Award from the Daily Record (2016).
Anderson was born in California.
