Hon. Suzanne M. Brown is a judge for the 10th Judicial District Court of Minnesota in Anoka County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Tim Walz in 2019, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Daniel O’Fallon (Ret.).
The 10th Judicial District includes Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Brown led the Criminal Division as a senior county attorney with the Scott County Attorney's Office since 2018. She joined the office as an assistant county attorney in 2005.
Before that, Brown was a federal public defender on the Federal Defender’s Conflict Panel for the District of Minnesota (2003 to 2004) and practiced as an associate at Colich & Associates (1995 to 2004). While at the firm, she also served as an assistant city attorney for the City of St. Louis Park.
She received a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in 1993. Brown went on to complete a J.D. at Hamline University School of Law in 1997.
Her memberships have included the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Anoka County Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Minnesota District Judges Association, the Minnesota District Judges Foundation, and the Federal Bar Association. Brown was also a member of the Committee for Equality and Justice, the 10th Judicial District Equal Justice Committee, and the Criminal Jury Instructions Committee.
She has been involved with the District 11 Community Curriculum Advisory Council and the District 11 Student Services Advisory Committee. Brown has also served as a mock trial judge.
