The Hon. Susan D. Huguenor (Ret.) served as a judge for the San Diego County Superior Court in California. Huguenor initially joined the El Cajon Municipal Court in 1985. She was elevated to the Superior Court eleven years later.
Over the course of her judicial career, Huguenor held assignments as the Presiding Judge (1988) and Assistant Presiding Judge (1987) of the El Cajon Municipal Court. She also sat on the Family Law Court and the Juvenile Court of the San Diego Superior Court.
Huguenor earned a B.A. from Monmouth College in 1968. She then completed a J.D. at California Western School of Law in 1974.
After graduating from law school, Huguenor began her legal career as a Deputy City Attorney in the Office of the San Diego City Attorney. During her tenure there, she worked in the Criminal Division as well as the Consumer Fraud Unit.
Her memberships have included the Juvenile Court Judges of California (President), the California Judges Association, and the National Association of Women Judges. She also sat on the San Diego County Commission on Children, Youth & Families (Chair) and the Family & Juvenile Advisory Committee to the Judicial Council (Co-Chair).
She was named “Distinguished Jurist” by the Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (2014) and “Woman of the Year” by the 75th Assembly District (2009). She is also a recipient of the Wilmont Sweeny Award from the Juvenile Court Judges of California (2005) and the Law & Justice Award from the California Women in Government (1989).
Huguenor retired on March 12, 2014. She joined ADR Services as a private mediator and arbitrator.
