The Hon. Stephen G. Milliken (Ret.) was an associate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He was nominated to the bench by President George H.W. Bush in 1990.
Prior to his nomination, Milliken worked at the Department of Justice and was a founder and partner at Milliken, Van Susteren & Canan. He was also a Fellow at Georgetown Law School.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University. Milliken then completed a J.D. at Antioch School of Law. He was admitted to practice in the District of Columbia in 1978.
Milliken is co-founder, secretary, and CEO of JusticeAid, an organization that seeks to use the arts to promote social, economic, and racial justice. In his free time, he enjoys painting at the Washington Studio School.
