The Hon. Sharen D. Hudson is a judge for the Criminal Court of the City of New York in Kings County. She was originally elected to the Kings County Civil Court bench in 2011 but has presided on the Criminal Court. While on the bench, Judge Hudson has also served as a judge for the Misdemeanor Brooklyn Treatment Court.
She is a registered Democrat.
She graduated with her B.A. in criminal justice from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Hudson also holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
Prior to her judgeship, she worked for the New York State Unified Court System in Kings County for over twenty-five years. During her tenure there, Hudson served as a court attorney for the Kings County Civil, Housing, and Criminal Courts, a small claims arbitrator, and a principal law clerk for the Kings County Supreme Court. She was serving as a pro se court attorney at the Red Hook Community Justice Center at the time of her election to the bench.
Judge Hudson has served as a former vice-chair of Bedford Stuyvesant Legal Services and was a former board member of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. She has also served as a mentor for the Youth Empowered for Success and the Legal Outreach Program. Her other memberships have included the Tribune Society and the New York State Unified Court System Volunteer Lawyer Project.
