The Hon. Seth L. Marvin is an Acting Justice for the Bronx County Supreme Court (Criminal Term) in the Twelfth Judicial District of New York. He was designated to the bench by Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman in 2004.
Marvin was initially appointed to the Criminal Court of the City of New York by former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in 2000. He was subsequently re-appointed by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2002 and 2012.
Prior to his appointment, Marvin served as an assistant district attorney in the Appeals Bureau of the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office from 1981 to 1986.
He then entered into private practice, spending the next three years working as a litigation associate at Dornbush, Mensch, Mandelstam & Silverman.
Then, in 1989, he joined the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. He served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in its Criminal Division until 2000.
Marvin earned a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1978. Then, in 1981, he completed a J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law.
