Biography

Hon. Sara Blankenhorn is a judge for the Taos County Magistrate Court in New Mexico. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in March 2020.


Prior to her appointment, Blankenhorn was an attorney at Community Against Violence (2017 to 2021) and the Natelson Law Firm (2013 to 2021). She also prosecuted DWI and domestic violence cases at the Office of the District Attorney for the 1st Judicial District (2010 to 2011).


She received a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Washington (2004) and an M.A. in classical western literature and philosophy from St. John’s College (2008). Blankenhorn went on to complete a J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2011. While a law student, she was a law clerk at Lawit & Kitson (2011), the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender (2010 to 2011), the Office of the District Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District (2010), and New Mexico Legal Aid (2009 to 2010).


Blankenhorn also attended Taos High School.


She is registered as a Democrat.
