The Hon. Sam A. Limentato is a circuit judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2020.
The Sixth Judicial Circuit includes Champaign County, DeWitt County, Douglas County, Macon County, Moultrie County, and Piatt County.
Prior to his appointment, Limentato was the owner of Limentato Law, a law firm he opened in 2019. Before that, he spent time as a partner at Torricelli & Limentato (1999 to 2019). He specialized in family law matters.
Limentato earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Oral Roberts University in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law in 1994. He is admitted to appear before the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the Southern District of Illinois.
After graduating from law school, Limentato entered into private practice. He started as an associate at Craig & Craig in Mattoon (1994 to 1995) and Hinshaw & Culbertson in Champaign (1995 to 1999).
His memberships have included the Illinois Judges Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Champaign County Bar Association, and the East Central Illinois Women Attorneys Association. He was also a member of the Illinois Certified Public Accountant Society and an administrative law judge for the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Raised in Chicago and Wheaton, Limentato attended Lane Technical High School and Wheaton Central High School. He and his wife have five children.
He is registered as a Republican.
