Hon. Ronald K. Thompson is a judge for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Brian Kemp in January 2022 to fill the vacancy created by the passage of House Bill 786.
The Ogeechee Judicial Circuit is comprised of Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven Counties.
Prior to his appointment, Thompson was a judge for the Effingham County State Court since 2003.
Before that, handled criminal defense, civil litigation, and real estate transactions as a private practice attorney for thirteen years.
Thompson received a B.A. in history from Armstrong State College in 1987. He went on to complete a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in 1990.
Thompson is the recipient of the Champion of Justice Award from the Council of State Court Judges of Georgia for his role in unsealing documents in the sex abuse case of Jane Doe v. USA Gymnastics.
A father of two, he is a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School (1980).
