The Hon. Rochelle Champagne Fahrig is a judge for the 29th Judicial District Court of Louisiana in St. Charles Parish. She was elected to the bench in 2023.
Fahrig received a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Louisiana State University A&M College in 2005. She then completed a J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center (2008) and a bachelor’s degree in civil law from Louisiana State University (2008). While attending law school, Fahrig served as a law clerk to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office (2006 to 2007). She was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and has presented oral arguments before the Louisiana Supreme Court, the Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeal, and the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal.
Fahrig began her legal career in private practice as an associate at Johnson Johnson Barrios & Yacoubian in New Orleans in 2008. At the firm, her practice included insurance defense, workers’ compensation, and medical malpractice.
Then, in 2014, Fahrig became an assistant district attorney in St. Charles Parish, where she remained until her election to the bench. As a prosecutor, she handled criminal matters, including cases involving murder and sex crimes against children.
Fahrig was appointed to the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association ADA Board. She has also served as an instructor for the P.O.S.T. Academy and the St. Charles Parish Community Education Program.
Fahrig and her husband, Jody, reside in Luling with their two children. The family attends Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling. Fahrig graduated from Hahnville High School.
She is a lifelong Republican.
