The Hon. Robert J. Raupp is a judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Dayton on June 3, 2013, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James W. Hoolihan.
The 7th Judicial District includes Becker County, Benton County, Clay County, Douglas County, Mille Lacs County, Morrison County, Otter Tail County, Stearns County, Todd County, and Wadena County.
Prior to his appointment, Raupp was the County Attorney for Benton County, a position to which he was named in 2000. He started as an assistant county attorney with the Benton County Attorney’s Office, rising through the ranks to become First Assistant County Attorney in 1998.
Raupp earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He then completed a J.D. at Hamline University School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Raupp began his legal career as an assistant city attorney for the City of Minneapolis. He served in that capacity until 1990, at which time he joined the Benton County Attorney’s Office.
His memberships have included the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Minnesota County Attorneys Association. He has also been involved with the Board of Directors of the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force and the Central Minnesota Crime Investigation Unit.
A resident of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Raupp volunteers with the Adopt-a-River Program and the Sauk Rapids Lions Club.
