The Hon. Robert Gilmore is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Court of North Carolina. He was elected to the bench in 2020.
The 4th Judicial District includes Duplin, Jones, Onslow, and Sampson Counties.
Prior to his election, Gilmore handled criminal matters at his own private practice, the Gilmore Law Firm, PLLC, in Clinton since 2017. Before that, he prosecuted violent crimes as an assistant district attorney in both Anson (2014 to 2015) and Harnett (2015 to 2017) Counties.
Gilmore began his legal career as a partner at Salmon & Gilmore, LLP in Lillington in 2013.
He received a B.B.A. in trust and wealth management from Campbell University in 2009. Gilmore then completed a J.D. at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, in 2012. Gilmore was valedictorian of his law class. While a law student, he was an intern at the Lee County District Attorney’s Office (2012) and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (2011).
Gilmore, a native of Sampson County, was born and raised in Keener. He attended Hobbton High School. Gilmore and his wife, Ashley, have two sons. The family attends First United Methodist Church in Clinton.
He is registered as a Republican.
