Hon. Robert G. Yeatts is a judge for the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench in November 2011. Yeatts intends to retire at the end of 2021.
During his judicial tenure, he spent time as the president judge of the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas.
Yeatts received a bachelor’s degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1977. He went on to complete a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 1981.
After graduating from law school, Yeatts became a founding partner in Moder & Yeatts and later practiced at Lewis & Ristvey, P.C. His legal career also included stints as an assistant public defender with the Mercer County Public Defender’s Office and an assistant district attorney and special assistant district attorney with the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office.
Yeatts also taught as an instructor at Pennsylvania State University.
His memberships included the Mercer County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives. Yeatts was also a chairperson for the Hermitage, Sharpsville, and West Middlesex Community Court (1999 to 2010).
His civic involvement has included the Hermitage Historical Society (past president), the ARC of Mercer County, the Notre Dame Church, the Hermitage Fraternal Order of Police, the Sharon Board of Health, the F.H. Buhl Club, the Keystone Blind Association (past president and board member), the Sharon Regional Health System Behavioral Health Center Advisory Committee (past president), the Shenango Valley Junior Achievement, Inc. (board member), the Shenango Valley YMCA (board member), the Sankofa House for Women, Inc. (board member), the MCAR Human Rights Committee, the Shenango River Watchers, Ducks Unlimited, the Hickory V.F.W., Post 6166, the Farrell Italian Home, the Slovak Home, and the Slovenian Working Men’s Educational Club.
Yeatts is a long-time resident of Hermitage.
