Hon. Robert G. Malestein is a judge for the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem County Superior Court (Vicinage 15) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie in 2012 and reappointed for tenure in 2019.
While on the bench, Malestein has held assignments in the Cumberland County Civil Division (2012 to 2013), Criminal Division (2013 to 2021), and Family Division (2021) as well as the Gloucester County Family Division (2021 to present).
Prior to his appointment, Malestein was an attorney in the law firm of Lipman, Antonelli, Batt, Gilson Malestein, Rothman & Capasso. Before that, he served as assistant county legal counsel and a solicitor for the Hopewell and Cumberland Regional Boards of Education.
Malestein received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and French from Rutgers College in 1987. He went on to complete a J.D. at New England Law in 1990.
Malestein was admitted to practice in New Jersey (1990), New York (1991), and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (1991).
He was certified as a Workers’ Compensation Attorney.
