The Hon. Robert A. Pitre (Ret.) served as a judge for the 24th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. Pitre was elected to the bench on September 21, 1996. He retired at the conclusion of his term on December 31, 2014.
The 24th Judicial District encompasses Jefferson Parish.
Pitre earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Louisiana State University. He then completed a J.D. at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He was licensed to practice in Louisiana in 1968.
After graduating from law school, Pitre entered into private practice as a sole practitioner. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench, supplementing his practice with service as an executive assistant district attorney for the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office (1972 to 1996).
Pitre is a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys motorcycles and drag racing, building and modifying his own cars.
