The Hon. Rick Rodger is a judge for the Probate and Juvenile Division of the Union County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020.
Rodger earned a bachelor’s degree in justice administration from Brigham Young University in 1985. He then completed a J.D. at Capital University Law School in 1988.
After graduating from law school, Rodger entered into private practice, working as an associate and a partner at Schulze & Phillips. He represented clients in domestic relations cases and custody matters as well as insurance defense, collection, real estate, general business, and landlord/tenant matters. Then, in 2001, he opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner, where he specialized in divorce, dissolution, child support, probate, and landlord/tenant issues.
Rodger supplemented his practice with service as an assistant prosecuting attorney. He started with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in 1992, eventually leaving to join the Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office in 2001. He then returned to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in 2005, where he worked until his election to the bench. For part of this time, he was also the solicitor for the Village of Richwood (2001 to 2005).
His memberships have included the Union County Bar Association (president), the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association, and the National District Attorneys Association.
He has been involved with the Union County Builders Association, the Mason’s Lodge, the Marysville Evening Lions Club, and the Century Club. He also sat on the Union County Law Library Board, the Architectural Review Board, and the Child Assault Prevention Project Board.
He is registered as a Republican.
