The Hon. Richard Moore, III, is a judge for the 19th Judicial District Court of Louisiana. He was elected to the bench in 2005.
The 19th Judicial District includes East Baton Rouge Parish.
Moore received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1988. He then completed a J.D. at Southern University Law Center in 1992.
After graduating from law school, Moore began his legal career in private practice in Zachary, where he remained for the next thirteen years. During that same time, he spent a decade as the city prosecutor for Zachary and four years as a magistrate judge for the Town of Slaughter.
Moore, who goes by the nickname, Chip, was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He was raised in Zachary, Louisiana, where he attended Zachary High School. His parents were both physicians. Moore and his wife have three children.
He is registered as a Republican.
