Hon. Richard A. Masson (Ret.) is a senior judge for the Elk-Cameron County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the bench in August 2002 and was subsequently elected in November of the following year. Masson retired on December 31, 2019.
During his judicial tenure, he was the president judge of the Elk-Cameron County Court of Common Pleas.
Masson received a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1980.
Before his appointment to the bench, Masson had worked as an attorney in private practice. During that time, he was a partner at Houston & Masson, a shareholder at Fernan, Whitney & Masson, P.C., and a sole practitioner at his own private practice, the Law Offices of Richard A. Masson.
He was a former trustee of the Stackpole-Hall Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh Bradford Advisory Board.
Masson was born in Orange, New Jersey, and is a graduate of St. Marys Area High School.
