The Hon. Richard E. Grawey (Ret.) served as a circuit judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He was appointed to the bench in 1990, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Richard Eagleton. He retired in 2010.
Prior to his appointment, Grawey was of counsel to the United States Congress, a position to which he was named in 1975. He served in that capacity until 1982, at which time he entered into private practice in Peoria.
Over the course of his retirement, Grawey has joined the judicial programs administered by the International Human Rights Law Institute of Chicago. In that capacity, he has worked with judges in Moldova, Ukraine, Egypt, and Armenia to develop fair trial procedures and establish educational and ethical requirements for judges.
The 10th Judicial Circuit includes Marshall County, Peoria County, Putnam County, Stark County, and Tazewell County.
He is registered as a Democrat.
