Judge Regine L. Thompson: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Regine L. Thompson is a magistrate for the 12th Judicial District Court of Kansas. She was appointed to the bench by the 12th Judicial District Nominating Commission on January 16, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Starla Nelson.

The 12th Judicial District encompasses Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Republic, and Washington Counties. Thompson has held assignments in Republic County.

Prior to her appointment, Thompson was a partner at Thompson & Thompson, a law firm located in Scandia.

Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 1993. She then completed a J.D. at the George Washington University Law School in 1996. She is licensed to practice in Kansas (1997) and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.

Her memberships have included the Kansas District Magistrate Judges Association.
