The Hon. Rachel C. Sullivan is a judge for the 6th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Dayton on July 27, 2018, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. David E. Ackerson.
The 6th Judicial District includes Carlton County, Cook County, Lake County, and St. Louis County.
Prior to her appointment, Sullivan was a partner at Prebich & Sullivan. Before that, she spent time as an associate at Larkin, Hoffman, Daly & Lindgren as well as Lockridge Gridal Nauen. Sullivan was a general practitioner, handling civil, family, criminal, and probate matters.
Sullivan earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. She then completed a J.D. at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Sullivan began her legal career as a law clerk to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Her memberships have included the Hibbing Public School Board and the Board of Directors of the Hibbing Chisholm Youth Hockey Association.
