The Hon. Percy L. Lynchard, Jr. is a judge for the 3rd Chancery Court District of Mississippi. He joined the bench in 1995.
The 3rd Chancery District includes DeSoto, Grenada, Montgomery, Panola, Tate, and Yalobusha Counties.
Prior to beginning his judicial career, he was the Prosecuting Attorney in DeSoto County (1992 to 1995) and spent ten years as a municipal judge for the City of Hernando.
Lynchard received a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Delta State University. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1981. Lynchard was admitted to practice in Mississippi (1981) and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi (1981).
Lynchard had two unsuccessful bids for a seat on the Mississippi Supreme Court, including in 2020.
He and his wife, Vanessa, who has worked as the DeSoto County Administrator, have two grown children.
