The Hon. Paul J. Hickman is a judge for the 28th Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Sam Brownback on October 23, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jerome Hellmer.
The 28th Judicial District encompasses Ottawa County and Saline County.
Prior to his appointment, Hickman was a deputy public defender for the Salina Regional Public Defender’s Office, a position to which he was named in 1997. Before that, he spent time as an assistant county attorney for the Barton County Attorney’s Office.
Hickman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Kansas School of Law.
Raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Hickman is a triplet in a family of six boys.
