Biography

The Hon. Patricia P. Fresard is a judge for the Third Circuit Court in Michigan. She was elected to the bench on November 3, 1998.

Fresard earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University in 1979. She then completed a J.D. at Detroit College of Law in 1986. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan that same year.

After graduating from law school, Fresard began her legal career as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. She served in that capacity until her election to the bench, rising through the ranks to become Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit.

Her memberships have included the Diversity Committee of the Federal Bar Association and the Executive Board of the Michigan Judges Association.

Fresard is one of four siblings. Her father worked as a neurologist. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Fresard enjoys reading, painting, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
