The Hon. Nathan Braverman (Ret.) served as an associate judge for the Baltimore City District Court in Maryland. Braverman was appointed to the bench by former Governor Parris Glendening on July 24, 2000. He retired on August 31, 2016.
Braverman held assignments on the Criminal Law & Procedure Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference and the Administrative Judges Committee of the District Court of Maryland. He also sat on the Truancy Court Work Group and the Committee to Study Extended Media Coverage of Criminal Trial Proceedings in Maryland.
Prior to his appointment, Braverman was an assistant attorney general in the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. During his tenure there, he spent time in the Environmental Crimes Unit, the Insurance Fraud Division, and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Braverman earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Florida in 1978. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in 1981. He is admitted to practice in Maryland (1981), the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (1981), the United States Tax Court (1982), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (1983).
His memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore City Bar Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the Hampden Family Center, and he volunteered as an adult literacy instructor for the Learning Bank of Baltimore.
Braverman was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Pikesville Senior High School.
