The Hon. Nancy M. Blount (Ret.) served as a judge for the 36th District Court of Michigan. Blount initially joined the bench in 1983. She retired in 2021 (February).
Over the course of her judicial career, Blount held assignments as Chief Judge of the 36th District Court, a position to which she was named by the Michigan Supreme Court in 2013.
Blount earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School. She was admitted to practice in Michigan (1975), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (1975), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (1978).
After graduating from law school, Blount spent time as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Detroit Law Department.
Her memberships have included the Wolverine Bar Association. She has also been involved with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the NAACP, and the Trade Union Leadership Council.
