The Hon. Monique Velarde Reyes is a judge for the 327th District Court in El Paso County, Texas. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.
Velarde Reyes earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of the Pacific in 1998. She spent the next few years teaching English for the Canutillo Independent School District before completing a J.D. at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2005.
After graduating from law school, Velarde Reyes entered into private practice. She started as an associate at the Law Offices of Ruben Ortiz (2007) and the Law Office of Woodrow Bean, III (2008 to 2009). She then opened her own law firm in 2009, supplementing her practice with service as a municipal judge for the City of Socorro (2016 to 2022).
She is registered as a Democrat.
