The Hon. Michelle M. Evans is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of Idaho. She was elected to the bench in 2022, filling the vacancy created by the Hon. Jay Gaskill.
The 2nd Judicial District includes Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis, and Nez Perce Counties. Evans has held an assignment in Nez Perce County. She began her judicial career as a magistrate with the 2nd Judicial District Magistrate Division in Nez Perce County in 2014.
Before joining the bench, Evans worked for twenty years as a prosecutor, spending nineteen of those years in Latah County (1995 to 2014) and one in Lewis County. For her work, she was awarded the Prosecutor of the Year by the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association in 2008.
She received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Idaho in 1989. Evans then completed a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 1993.
She served as an advisory board member and co-chair of the Commitments Workgroup of the Idaho Behavioral Health Council and a member of the Idaho Supreme Court Domestic Violence Advisory Team, the Misdemeanor Sentencing Committee, and the Child Protection Advisory Team.
A native Idahoan, Evans attended Bonners Ferry High School. She and her husband, Terry, have two children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, boating, camping, attending concerts, and tailgating at the Idaho Vandals football games.
