Hon. Michelle E. Jones is a judge for the 18th Judicial District Court of Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in January 2023, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Frederick T. Martinez (Ret.).
The 18th Judicial District includes Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Jones handled domestic relations and juvenile matters as a magistrate for the 18th Judicial District in Arapahoe County since 2020.
Before joining the bench, she served as an administrative law judge III (2019 to 2020) and an administrative law judge II (2014 to 2019) for the Office of Administrative Courts and was a hearing officer III and Divison Clerk (2010 to 2014) and a hearing officer II (2008 to 2010) at the Colorado Department of Revenue.
Jones also spent time in private practice at the Orr Law Firm (2006 to 2008), where she handled criminal defense matters.
She received a B.A. in political science and communications from Boston College in 2004. Jones went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2007.
