Biography

Hon. Michael Pritchett is a circuit judge for the 36th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. He was elected to the bench in 2010.


The 36th Judicial Circuit Court includes Butler and Ripley Counties.


During his judicial tenure, Pritchett has served as Presiding Judge of the 36th Judicial Circuit Court.


Prior to his election, he had worked in private practice since 1981. Pritchett was also a former city attorney for Poplar Bluff and an assistant prosecuting attorney in Butler County.


He received a B.M.E. from Drury University in 1976. Pritchett went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Missouri School of Law in 1980. He was admitted to practice in Missouri (1981), the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.


Pritchett sat as a member of the Poplar Bluff Transit Authority, ADAPT, the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Poplar Bluff Industries, and the Poplar Bluff R1 Diversity Committee.


He is a recipient of the Theodore McMillian Judicial Excellence Award in 2020.


Pritchett was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He is a member of First Baptist Church.


He is registered as a Republican.
