Biography

Hon. Michael P. Davidson is a judge for the 15th Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Hickenlooper on October 3, 2015, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Douglas Tallman (Ret.).


The 15th Judicial District includes Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties. Davidson has served as Chief Judge of the 15th Judicial District and participated in the Dependency and Neglect System Reform program (DANSR), designed to integrate family drug court practices into dependency and neglect cases.


Prior to his appointment, he was an associate at Scranton Specht & Associates, P.C. in Lamar, where he handled family law, criminal defense, and civil litigation cases. Before entering private practice, Davidson was elected to two terms as the District Attorney for the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He began his legal career with the office as a deputy district attorney.


He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado. Davidson went on to complete a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
