Biography

The Hon. Michael K. Kellogg (Ret.) was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He retired from the bench in 2018. He was originally appointed to the Los Angeles County Municipal Court by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1996. Through the unification of the courts, he was elevated to the Superior Court in 2000. The Hon. Jessica A. Uzcategui was appointed to fill his vacancy.


Kellogg attended Santa Clara University in 1964 where he received his bachelor’s degree. In 1965 he received his M.A. from Ball State University.


Having played football in college, Kellogg went on to play in the AFL as a fullback for the Denver Broncos from 1996-1967.


After his time in the AFL, Kellogg attended the California College of Law in West Los Angeles where he earned his J.D. in 1978.


Kellogg’s spent his entire legal career in Torrance, California. His work experience includes working in private practice as a criminal defense lawyer, a partnership with the law firm Donahue, Kellogg and Donahue, and as an attorney for the city prosecutor’s office.


He has been a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association and was also an Inspiration Award recipient in 2012 from the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.
