Biography

The Hon. Michael J. Truncale is a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He was nominated to the bench by former President Donald Trump on January 23, 2019, filling a seat vacated by the Hon. Ron Clark. His nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 14, 2019.


Truncale earned a B.B.A. from Lamar University (1978) and an M.B.A. from the University of North Texas (1980). He later completed a J.D. at Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, in 1985. He is licensed to practice in Texas (1985).


After graduating from law school, Truncale entered into private practice at Orgain Bell & Tucker in Beaumont. He worked in that capacity until his appointment to the bench.


His memberships have included the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System and the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board.


Truncale was born in Beaumont, Texas.


He is registered as a Republican.
